Sitting in class wishing I was anywhere but here…

27 Oct

I am currently sitting in my Music for Diverse Learners class, wishing I was anywhere but here. I’m so tired that if I stop typing I may pass out. Even if I do type, I may pass out. Last week I nodded off mid-type and then startled myself and slammed on the keys and scared everyone in the room. hahha oh my life.

This teacher is teaching us how to do our weekly assignments TWO MONTHS AFTER THE CLASS HAS STARTED. Why did she blow it and miss the wagon, you ask? Because we finally all complained enough that she FINALLY decided to give proper and full directions for all of these reflection assignments.

The air conditioner keeps going off and on in this room, and even though it is humid, I do not appreciate all this blowing cold air.

Here are some wonderful things I have found lately:

2PM is so funny and cute. I love Junho’s cat tips. hahah

Also, look at this SPLENDID picture of Nichkhun that I have set as one of my background photos. So. cute.

I really hate this class. Like so much. We had to write a bagillion reflections for this class and do this whole presentation and etc, LET’S GET A MOVE ON LADY I HAVE STUFF TO DO IF I’M NOT LEARNING!!!

Weekends are the BEST.

26 Oct

This past weekend was QUITE the adventure. Well, at least Saturday night into Sunday morning was.

On Friday: I didn’t do much. I have class stuff in the morning and then in the afternoon we (my suite-mate Jessica and I) decided to watch “The Proposal” with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds (who is smokin’ hott btw). ANYWAYS, let’s just say we didn’t make it to Alaska because we PASSED OUT. we. were. exhausted.

Later that night we decided to have a GLEE marathon! My friend Jess (who lives across the hall) and I had never seen the first season, but we had started to get into the second and we were VERY confused. Jessica (the suite-mate) has the whole first season on DVD. THUS, a marathon commenced.

On Saturday: We also did a lot of nothing. Jessica and I went to Jess’s soccer game and they won!!! Jess is the goalie and ranked nationally for division 2! She is fantastic!

Later, Me, Jess, and Jessica decided to FINISH watching Glee. WE ARE NOW OFFICIALLY CAUGHT UP. and SUPER excited to see tomorrow’s episode now that we know what’s going on. haha

SATURDAY NIGHT: Jessica and I decided we wanted to pull an all-nighter. SO after finishing GLEE at 2am, haha, we twittered back and forth to each other (AND fb’ed) for like, a half an hour. And yes, we were in the same room-ish area (I was in the common room, and she in her bedroom). Then we decided to go search out some caffeine from the vending machines. We eventually had to wander to another dorm building because ours wasn’t working. Then we sat on the library steps for like an hour. Doing what, no one knows.

Then, we came back and watched Ghost Hunters while making up a hilarious prank to play on our friend Jess (across the hallway who was already asleep). We put post-it notes ALL OVER HER DOOR. hahha We were going to put them all over her-side of her room, but she locked the door and we couldn’t get in.

Here’s a lovely picture of our 4 AM craftsmanship:

"Post-It Door"

It was SOOO HILARIOUS!

After this we decided to watch some more Ghost Hunters and it got a little spooky! THEN WE HAD THE GENIUS IDEA TO film our own Ghost Hunters IN OUR ROOM!!! 😀 That was…until we scared ourselves because of the graveyard outside our window and had to stop. hahaha

We eventually went to sleep at about 7 am.

On Sunday: After sleeping til almost 1, we got up and a bunch of my friends and I went to walk around the BEAUTIFUL Fairmont Park.

Fall Fairmont

After that, we went to my friend (and roommate) Kaycee’s house for dinner where her dad cooked us up some FANTASTIC Italian food.

NOW It is early Tuesday morning (Monday night to me) and I’m sitting in my room doing some ABSOLUTELY HEINOUS Music Theory homework and listening to the soundtrack for Little Shop of Horrors.

embarrassing moment of the weekend: I was walking up the Hill of Death with Jessica when a bird rustled overly loudly in a bush next to me and I screamed and fell and laid on the hill for like 45 seconds.

moral of my life: I HATE BIRDS.

Peace Out Boy/Girl Scouts

English Subbed Videos and Copyright Laws are not friends.

23 Oct

Did you ever decide to watch a show in another language that you don’t understand?

Well I do it all the time. I really love watching foreign dramas (specifically asian ones, but regardless-foreign to me) and I therefore have to watch these videos with English Subtitles. That sounds all good and well, and actually I think it improves your reading speed if you’re a slow reader to begin with.

SOOOO I am currently watching the drama “Down With Love” starring Ella Chen and Jerry Yan. These shows are very addicting. I have barely any free time during the week, so I usually only watch it on the weekends. This weekend I had finally gotten down to like the last two episodes of the series AND I CANNOT FIND ANY VIDEOS WITH SUBTITLES LEFT ON THE INTERNET.

I mean really. I have searched everywhere I can think of! I AM LIKE 1/6 INTO THE LAST EPISODE. It’s killing me!!!!!

Damn Copyright Laws.

Seriously, like it’s one thing to have a copyright law out so that no one else can take credit or profit for your work, I GET THAT, however it really SUCKS when you get addicted to something that you can’t understand without the help of others’ vigorous translations! These companies get so upset that people are posting their videos and translating them for other countries, when really they should be glad they are getting so much world wide publicity!!!

YOUTUBE is a good example of this. Everything on youtube is so commercialized now that they have these 15 second commercials in front of popular videos (that makes everyone annoyed with geico and etc because who wants commercials on youtube?!??!) that you HAVE to watch and cannot x out of. It’s irritating.

I understand that the purpose of this is to make a profit, so that’s cool.

BUT COMPANIES NEED TO STOP TAKING AWAY VIDEOS BECAUSE OF COPYRIGHT REASONS. If people are giving you credit, WHO CARES IF THEY POST IT?! It’s FREE Publicity for your artist or tv station or whatever!

As an English speaking fan of many foreign videos, it is extremely frustrating for me to not be able to easily find these videos for my viewing pleasure. I know a lot of people who feel that way. The more they crack down on youtube and the likes, the more foreign fans they are losing.

October 21st is not for birds.

22 Oct

On October 21st (yesterday) I had quite the day.

It all began in the morning. I was walking from my dorm building to the dining hall for breakfast and there’s this one spot that I have to pass on the way that always has freakin birds creeping in it. I HATE BIRDS. They are so gross and terrifying, I hate when they move around it really freaks me out. This one section that I pass has a statue surrounded by some little trees and bushes and etc. WELL apparently birds have a “thing” for statues because they are always hangin out there in the mornings when I walk past. SO, since I hate birds I tend to pass that area swiftly and then breathe a sigh of relief that none of them jumped out at me on that particular day. BUT YESTERDAY as I got into the safe zone, SOME BIRD MADE A NOISE THAT NO JOKE SOUNDED LIKE THE ALARM FOR A BOMB THREAT DURING WORLD WAR II. Well I did what any other being would do in that situation: I ducked and squatted and searched the skies with a panicked expression until I realized it was clear. This all went down in approximately 20 seconds.

Good thing no one else was around.

Or so I thought…………

…….I looked up to see a guy about 50 yards away staring at me.

I fled the scene.

Hello Bonjour Anyong-haseyo

19 Oct

Welcome to my first blog post ever! I have created this blog to talk about anything and everything I want with YOU-the world 🙂

I’m a college sophomore and I live in Pennsylvania, USA. I am not bilingual, or trilingual, though this title may lead some to believe so.

I do love Kpop music though! And Korean variety shows. I’m pretty much in love with Korean pop culture.

I am also a musician and studying to become a music teacher! Hooray! My goal is to teach at an Elementary level.

Okay, so now for the real deal

Today, I had thoughts about the following:

SNSD: So my friend Kaylyn showed me this link today  which is apparently some kind of revealer/teaser for their upcoming album. She thinks it’s creepy. Although I do agree that to some extent the song is a little creepy, I have hopes that the actual song (in its entirety) will actually be fantastic. Because I like SNSD, really.

Willow Smith: Kaylyn also shared with me this link  . Here’s how I feel: Although she seems to be very talented, she’s just a little young to have a whole music video as a solo artist. That may seem patronizing of me to say, however, I really just could not get over how YOUNG she looked in the video!!! I had the same feeling when I watched GP Basic’s “Game” MV. I just can’t get past the young age of Janey (like Willow), but I like the song!

Homework: As far as I am concerned, homework and satan were definitely friends. Like, I know homework helps us learn and yada yada but COME ON, you’re killin’ me.

Funny Incident of the Day: During my piano lesson, while my teacher was asking me to explain and point out the micro-dynamics (SAY WHAT?!) of my piece, I just could not get it and I mildly shouted “You’re killin’ me Shocks!”. This is an abbreviation of my teacher’s name. He now knows what we call him outside of lessons.
